Czech Wheelchair Tennis Association

[ČTSV] - logo It has been founded in 1995 and went ineffaceably into the awareness of home fans of wheelchair tennis as well as the International Wheelchair Tennis Association IWTA.

Since 1995 CWTA has been the member of IWTF (today ITF - section IWTA) representing the Czech republic and a colective member of the CWTA. Wheelchair tennis has been a full scale part of the Czech paralympic movement since 2002. It designates players for the paralympic games (Players meeting the designation criteria of the Czech paralympic council.).

Today the CWTA has about 50 members and its active players act in the Wheelchair tennis centres in Brno, Prague, Karviná or practice with their couches in their home towns.

Since 1999 CWTA has been cooperating with its marketing and advertising agency ARS Production Ltd., which ensures the financially and materially demandous tennis activities as well as the advertising of the supliers of this attractive sport.

Every year the CWTA provides money for national team players to take part in up to nine abroad tournaments and for five players to take part in the World Team Cup. The Czech team has fought in the World Team Cup in the Netherlands, Australia, Great Britain, Spain, in the USA, France, Switzerland and Italy. For the last six years the Czech team placed in the top ten wihtin the competition of 32 countries.

The CWTA provides material support and practice for the national team members and provides material support for possible future members. It can provide special tennis wheelchairs for its members at a very cost effective price.

The CWTA runs the CWTA Tour - a series of tournaments where all members can start free of charge. Since 2003 the sum of the points gained in CWTA Tour tournaments has been determining the Czech republic singles and doubles champion. The CWTA Tour currently consists of HAMR-Sport Open (indoor), Brno Open, Hostýnský pohár, VZP Praha Open and Karviná Open.

The CWTA regularly runs a recruiting campaign for new players offering a free-of-charge possibility for all who would like to start this sport. The campaign has been held every year during the Brno Open tournament under the head couch of the CWTA Jakub Vurm.

A very important activity of the CWTA is the organization of three international tournaments in Prostějov (Wheelchair Czech Open), Brno (SSŽ Cup) and Praha-Průhonice (Prague Cup Czech Indoor).
